NICOLE BIRMANN BLOOM
Born in Paris, she trained in contemporary dance in France (Paris) and the United States (New York), and in special education. After teaching dance, she then worked in the public and private sectors as an international relations assistant. In 1995, she joined the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York at 972 Fifth Avenue now Villa Albertine. From 1999 through 2023, she served there as Coordinator, then Program Officer for Performing Arts. She managed the promotion and development of projects by individual artists and companies in theatre, dance, contemporary circus, puppetry and street arts in the United States, and she achieved the organization of festivals, curatorial tours, and conferences fostering a rich dialogue between the two countries. Nicole also coordinated two bilateral grant programs: FUSED (French U.S. Exchange in Dance) and FACE Contemporary Theater (both currently remain active under Albertine Foundation).
She has remained a committed advocate of global performance and cultural exchange to service and support independent international performing arts consultancy with several artists and projects.
During 2024, she consulted with David Lescot – Veronique Felenbok (Spring tour 2025 in the U.S. of “Portrait of Ludmilla en Nina Simone”), Florient Jousse – Compagnie Tilawcis in collaboration with Amelia Parenteau for the development of the theater production “Flamboyant.”
Recently, she has developed an ongoing collaboration with the director and puppeteer Elise Vigneron-Theatre de l’entrouvert for the development of work in North America, as well as with the choreographer Nacera Belaza.
She is also currently consulting with the U.S. choreographer Kimberly Bartosik for international development; the journalist and producer Aurélie Charon-RadioLive Production for a North America tour in 2026-2027 and 2028; Gibney Dance-Gina Gibney for the development of a new work by choreographer Lucinda Childs in January 2027; the filmmaker and theater director Amos Gitai for a U.S. tour of his theater productions; and the collectif C.C.I.N.P.-Andy de Groat.

1978-1983: Nicole taught movement and dance in Toulouse and in Paris in schools and cultural organizations. She prized working with children.
